Entry 7
Dear Meowmeow,
Last week, our department held an activity called the Night of English. We’ve prepared for it for almost two months. Some people practiced dancing and singing and some other people played the instruments. There was one tradition of this activity. It must contain a drama performed in English and it had to be formal and interesting at the same time. Since this was a tradition, we made every effort to look for the freshmen who were interested in acting and directing. Luckily, we found a girl who had the experience of being a director, and she was willing to recruit classmates around her. When the first script of her play was finished, she handed it in and asked for some advice from us. The plot was based on a tragedy and it even had a sad ending. Due to the lack of entertainment, we had no choice but to ask her to revise the whole play. She obviously looked a bit down at that time, but we just kept encouraging her and told her she had already done a great job. What’s more, I myself was going to sing, dance, and be the host. With these three things, I was so busy and stressed that I couldn’t sleep well at night. I stayed up late nearly every day in order to make the performances perfect. During that period, we revised ourselves again and again and we also checked on other teams’ degree of progress. On the Night of English, everything went smoothly and every performer did a great job. I felt really touched, so I wept a little after I got off the stage. I wanted to show gratitude to professor CC also for she was always by our side cheering us up. With her encouragement, we got more enthusiastic and therefore did a better job on the activity. It was a pity that I didn’t get to watch all the performances that night since I had to be in charge of the host. However, it was really nice to see not only the audience but also the performers have a great time. In the class last week, we had a very special activity. The teacher asked us to be on time so that everyone could join the game. At first, the teaching assistants handed out some sheets to us. Each of us got a small card with different character setting on it. The main purpose was to fill in the blanks on the sheet. The background was a house of sixteen groups of residents. We were all one of the residents and we needed to find out who were our neighbors and in which room did they live in. I once played a game called LARP and they shared some similarities. Eventually, almost all of us got the answers while some people were still struggling looking for their roommates. It was overall a nice experience since it allowed us to communicate with other classmates who we didn’t know much.
